The city of Denver proclaimed that the 7th through the 15th of November would be Denver Arts week, a celebration of creative culture in the Mile High City. Visual arts, music, performances and workshops abounded, from Littleton to Englewood and Aurora to Arvada. Many ensembles held performances and among them was the Baroque Chamber Orchestra of Colorado. On November 8th, 2014, the ensemble graced the Claver Recital Hall at Regis University. At Regis the recital hall regularly hosts professional performers and music educators with the goal of providing their students and community examples of all kinds of music. On this autumn evening an audience of young and old, students and enthusiasts were presented with a fine example of Baroque repertoire, featuring works written by three different Jeans.

Regis University’s Claver Recital Hall is a new and popular venue for all types of performers. Recently the department of Fine and Performing Arts has hosted Robert Gupta, the American Recorder Society, and pop performer Svet in this wooden-walled music chamber. This past Wednesday, October 29th, Regis welcomed Dr. Lorenzo Trujillo and the Southwest Musicians to give a 7:30 pm performance for their last Guest Artist Series concert of the Fall 2014 season and were welcomed by students, elderly patrons, and parents with children. The Music Department at Regis University programs these events in order to expose Regis Students and their community to a diverse variety of music and performance. Dr. Trujillo and his compadres turned the Claver Recital Hall into a slice of the Southwest for a festive evening of performances and stories of the past.
The Claver Recital Hall at Regis University was abuzz with excitement for the main performance of the first Recorderfest in the West, a four day conference of workshops, lectures, and performances. It was a warm evening on September the 20th, 2014 in Denver, and the recital hall reflected the weather, large and open but still intimate and inviting. This was a gathering - but, more of a celebration - of the American Recorder Society and its members, many of whom are active members of local recorder societies. With so many esteemed musicians together in one place, the concert was sure to be a delight.
